Nancy Barker has been in corrections and law enforcement for approximately 27 years and is currently the Operations Lieutenant for the Walton County Department of Corrections. Lt. Barker began her career in corrections and ascended to the rank of Captain with the Florida Department of Corrections. Lt. Barker retired her position as Captain with the Florida Department of Corrections in April 2005. Lt. Barker was employed by the Walton County Department of Corrections in August 2008 and ascended through the ranks to Operations Lieutenant for our Department.
Lt. Barker attended numerous training classes within the Department of Corrections and currently holds a Firearms and Defensive tactics instructor certification with FDLE and is a graduate of the Florida Leadership Academy class number 17.

Lt. Michael Gainey
As the Professional Standards Commander for Walton County Department of Corrections, Lt. Gainey is responsible for internal affairs investigations, background investigations, training, accreditation and policy development.  Lt. Gainey has over sixteen years of law enforcement experience, beginning with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office in 1996 as a Corrections Officer.  After obtaining dual certifications in corrections and law enforcement in 1998, he transferred into law enforcement as a patrol deputy and went on to hold various positions with the Sheriff’s Office including court security, patrol deputy, beach patrol deputy, K-9 deputy and narcotics investigator.  In January of 2008 Lt. Gainey left the Sheriff’s Office to assume the position of Support Services Sergeant with the Walton County Department of Corrections.  In June of 2011 he became the Professional Standards Commander.  Lt. Gainey has an Associate of Arts degree from Okaloosa-Walton Community College in Criminal Justice.  He is a certified Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission Instructor, a certified accreditation manager, a certified accreditation assessor and has attended numerous investigations training courses.

Lt. Bill Price
As the Support Commander for the Walton County Department of Corrections, Lt. Price supervises the court/transport, food service, medical and inmate programs departments of the facility. Lt. Price brings over 21 years of corrections experience to the WCDOC.
Lt. Price worked his way up through the ranks beginning his career as a correctional officer in 1992. He graduated from the Corrections Academy at Okaloosa Walton Junior College in Niceville, FL. Since then he has worked in court and inmate transportation, inmate commissary sales, inmate programs, booking, control room operation, first line supervision positions as both Corporal and Sergeant, Adminstrative Sergeant, Jail Inspector, and Public Information Officer. Lt. Price has been Support Commander since 2007.
Lt. Price holds both an A.A. Degree and a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Project Management – Public Service Management from Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, FL. He is a certified Florida Model Jail Standards Inspector and certfied Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission Instructor.
